Our Vision
Parkinson’s Union for Research and Education (PURE) is driven by a powerful vision to enlighten not only Parkinson’s Disease (PD) patients but also the broader community. We believe that Parkinson’s, a condition affecting an astonishing number of individuals, demands our collective understanding and action. Emerging data even hints that as many as 1 in 25 people may be touched by this neurodegenerative challenge.
Our Mission
Our mission at PURE transcends mere education; it’s about igniting a spark of awareness and empathy within every heart. By shedding light on Parkinson’s, we aim to empower both patients and the general public with knowledge. In doing so, we aspire to create a society that stands united against this formidable neurological disorder.
Our Founders
The Parkinson’s Union for Research and Education finds its roots in the profound love and concern of two siblings. Distraught by their grandmother’s Parkinson’s diagnosis, Abdur Rehman, the Foundation President and Founder, along with Vice President and Co-Founder Areej Fatimah, embarked on a transformative journey. They harnessed their personal experience to create an initiative dedicated to guiding others through the challenges they themselves had faced.
Their inspiring story reminds us that from adversity can spring forth remarkable compassion and unwavering dedication. Abdur and Areej’s enduring commitment serves as a beacon of hope, lighting the way for those navigating the complexities of Parkinson’s Disease. Their legacy is one of empowerment, support, and a testament to the boundless impact of empathy.
